I was reading today’s New Sunday Times (August 31, 2008), page 19, when I came across with an interesting topic for all the bloggers out there. It is simply titled #%$@?&! watch what you say online. It is about the Act that should be practiced by all the bloggers in Malaysia. Recently, we have heard news about how bloggers were arrested, their blog being banned (I believe most of you know who am I referring to) and many more.
Here are the don’ts of blogging I got from the paper:
-
Do not post anything on your blog which you would not publish or say in the physical world.
-
Do not assume that you are anonymous on the internet.
-
Do not assume that blog providers will not give your information to law enforcement agencies – read the terms and conditions
-
Do not use copyright materials (eg. Pictures, videos) of others on your blog without permission.
Well, in case you do not know or just take it lightly, below is the link to the news that I have read. Happy viewing and hopefully nothing bad will happen to us.

Every blogger has to practice self-censorship if not responsibility for they publish in their blogs. No doubt freedom of speech is widely practiced on the Internet, but being a blogger you could also be termed professional writer or responsible author.
However, because we don’t have proper legal or guided laws in Malaysia this whole ban and other implications are a waste of time and media space. LOL.
Thanks Danny for your view. Happy Blogging.
Yaya… Need to be careful when comment.
i believe in self censorship. the readers r more discerning now and can sieve through the facts n allegations.
